Sewing Project: Succulents Wall Quilt

Hello friends! Today I’m sharing another quilt I made as a gift for my mom- this one was for her birthday last month. She’s an avid gardener and is especially fond of succulents so when I came across this pattern I knew it would make a perfect gift for her.

The pattern is by Material Girl Quilts and is available as a PDF. Each of the pots is done with paper piecing. It’s a little tricky for me and I have to watch a tutorial on Youtube to remember how to do it each time, but I love the nice crisp results!

I debated about what kind of quilting to do with this design but eventually settled on these kind of undulating lines. I drew them on first with a fabric marker (and chalk on the dark portions). I used my walking foot and a pretty big stitch length. I decided to use a light grey that would blend in a little more on the colors but also not be too dark on the white background. I think it was a good choice.

I added a message on the back with embroidery floss since it was a gift.

I also added a sleeve on the back so it can be hung up on the wall.
