Sewing Project: 1960’s Piglet Doll (McCall’s 8087)

This is the third doll I have made for my mother-in-law from this vintage pattern featuring the Winnie-the-Pooh characters (McCall’s 8087). I decided to go with Piglet this year, leaving just Tigger and Kanga and Roo left to go. You can see Pooh here and and Eeyore here.

I found a nice soft minkee-like fleece at Joann and also bought the pink striped cotton for his outfit there as well. I had previously scoured the internet for an orange and pink striped fabric closer to the pattern envelope but ended up having to go with Plan B. It looks different than the image on the pattern cover but is actually closer to the appearance of the character in the movie, so it worked out!

The only issue is that the fabric has some stretch to it, so he ended up a little bit chubbier than intended. As a result his outfit is a bit too tight.

Since it’s pretty much a tradition by now, I embroidered the back of his outfit with our names and the year.
