Hi everyone! Long time no see! I hope everyone is getting through 2020 ok. I was inspired to make a Halloween-themed dress this year after we found this fun vintage paper tablecloth:

Phillip and I both worked on re-creating the design in Adobe Illustrator and then I had it printed through Spoonflower. I chose the Organic Cotton Sateen as I often do for fabric I’m planning to make clothing with. The designs tend to print really clearly on this fabric and I like that it’s 56 inches wide. I decided the plain white background of the original was a little too boring so I added some light grey stripes to my version.

I used the Charm Patterns Night and Day Dress to make the dress. I used the round neckline bodice with the scarf collar. I love the fact that they have separate cup sizes for each size. I just made a small swayback adjustment but didn’t have to do a full bust adjustment, which was so nice! I just made a simple gathered skirt to show off the border print. It’s a full 3 yards wide. And of course I added pockets!

Here I am posing in our living room on Halloween night. You can see my latest attempt to do a wet set on my hair. It could be worse, but let’s just say I’m still learning. I was excited to accessorize with my new bat hairclips from Luxulite.

We didn’t do much for Halloween this year- just watched some movies and passed out candy to the few trick-or-treaters who showed up. I bought a plastic skeleton hand so I could dole out the candy without touching it and of course wore a mask. However….despite that, we had a true Halloween Miracle occur! We managed to get our chair back that was stolen from our porch late last month! A lady had purchased it at the swap meet and then saw one of the posts I had put up on various local Facebook groups. She contacted me and once we confirmed it was indeed the chair, she told me I could come pick it up!

I guess it just goes to show you there’s good out there amongst the bad…even in a year like 2020.
