Thrifty Thursday Vol. 52: Small World and a Chinese Bottle

Hi everyone! Welcome to this week’s edition of Thrifty Thursday, where I share my weekly thrift store/swap meet/estate sale finds.

I’m sorry about the lack of posting last Thursday- I had a super-busy week of cleaning, house guests, and last-minute sewing. Speaking of sewing, I found out today that my Negroni shirt made it through the fourth round of the Super Online Sewing Match! I’m now entering the fifth and final round, where our project will be the Cambie dress by Sewaholic. I’m pretty excited about this one because I’ve been wanting to make my own Cambie for months now! Every one I’ve seen online has been super cute and it seems like it’s flattering on every body type. I’ve been brainstorming ideas all day for how to make my version a little different but so far I still have no idea!

In other news, I started my web design class this week. I’m taking it two days a week in the evenings at the local community college. I’ve only had two classes, but I’m really enjoying it so far. I was worried about getting in over my head, but so far it’s been really do-able and I’m learning things that I think will be useful.

Anyway, most of these finds are from last weekend, when Phillip and I checked out a couple of estate and yard sales. It’s quickly becoming our weekly ritual to go to at least one or two on Saturday mornings. We scour Craigslist for promising sales and use my phone to navigate ourselves around town. It seems like we find at least one good one and one complete disappointment every time- you never know what you’ll find!

I’ll start off with my favorite find of the week: this little set of Small World perfume bottles. They’re Avon, which I normally stay far away from, but I absolutely love Small World and I couldn’t resist their cuteness!

We found this little Donald Duck toy at the same sale. The lady had so much stuff I liked! It’s fun to find a sale where someone has your same taste in decor!

This ceramic “Sprinkle Plenty” laundry sprinkler is also from that sale. Phillip listed it on Ebay and it’s already been bid up to over $100! We had no idea it was that cool. Does anyone have any info on it? I don’t know if it’s just a fluke or if this is some kind of valuable collectible I didn’t know about.

These Viewmaster slides were given to me by one of my co-workers. They’re a mix of California scenes and some fairy tales illustrated in claymation figures.

This doll was a thrift store find. She’s got such a funny facial expression!

That’s all for this week, thanks for stopping by! I promise I’ll have a more picture-filled post next week! I’ll be linking up at: Apron Thrift Girl, A Living Space, Sir Thrift A Lot, Remnant, and Joyful Treasure Hunting. Head on over and check out everyone’s finds for this week!
